  1. Rate of washing your hair – The rate at which you wash your hair is a key factor in the prevention of dry scalp. Washing your hair too often dries the skin, so if you suffer from a dry scalp, then you should cut down on how frequently you wash your hair. Washing your hair daily is not advisable for your scalp and even your hair. So wash your hair about twice a week.
  2. Use the right shampoo – You should also be mindful of the shampoo you use, because some shampoos may be too irritating for your scalp. Use a mild shampoo that is made for dry scalp when you have problems with your scalp.
  3. Use the right conditioner – Take note that we should only use a conditioner on the ends of your hair. On no condition should you apply the conditioner to the scalp. Don’t massage them in, and in that way, you’ll be preventing it from drying your skin.
  4. The warm air from the dryer – The warm air from the dryer is not healthy for both hair and scalp, as it dries them at a quick rate. So when using the dryer, make sure you switch the hairdryer to a cooler setting.
  5. Drink plenty of water – Drinking of plenty is another effective way of preventing dry scalp. Stay hydrated by taking enough water to keep your skin healthy and hydrated. Drink enough water each day.
  6. Eat healthy foods for healthy hair – Make sure you eat a balanced diet and get plenty of vitamins B from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Omega-3 fatty acids are also good at maintaining a healthy scalp. Omega-3 are found in fatty fish, nuts and seeds, and oils.
  7. Don’t bathe with hot water – Boiled water can be harsh on your scalp, skin, and hair, causing it to dry. To prevent a dry scalp, try not to be bathing with scalding water. Instead, bathe with warm water.
  8. Apply scalp lotion – Scalp lotions help in keeping your scalp moisturized, preventing dryness. Apply it to your scalp the same way you apply any lotion.
